We are delighted you are thinking about baptism.
At baptism you promise to raise your child to know God loves them, and to help them follow Jesus as a member of the Church. Baptism, also known as Christening, is a visible sign of God’s love for us, and it is a welcome into the family of the church. We publicly acknowledge God’s love for us and thank him for his wonderful gift of life.
A baptism will normally take place as part of a regular Sunday service at 12.30pm. This is so the congregation can welcome you and your child into the church family. However, we can also offer other times by prior arrangement at any of the three Bistre Churches, depending upon other services and commitments. Teenagers and adults can also make promises to God through baptism. Adult baptism is sometimes more suitable for teenagers, and we will gladly provide you with more information.

Congratulations on your engagement.
We are delighted that you are enquiring about a wedding in Borderlands Mission Area, at either Emmanuel Church Bistre, All Saints Buckley, or St Cecilia’s Mynydd Isa. And we are pleased you wish to celebrate your marriage in a Christian context.
Any single man and single woman over 18 years of age (or 16 years of age with parental consent) has a legal right to be married in their local Anglican Church, or in an Anglican Church with which they have a qualifying connection.
To book your wedding, we ask for a minimum of 3 to 4 months’ notice; however, the more notice you can give, the better. Once you have reserved your date, we will arrange to meet up so you can complete a simple form and pay a £100 deposit to confirm your booking.
You will need to have your Banns read in the weeks preceding your wedding.
The Banns will be read on three consecutive Sundays the month before your wedding and you are encouraged to be present in church for the reading of the Banns.
It is of vital importance that if one or both of you reside outside of the Parish of Bistre, your Banns are read in the local church nearest to where you each live. You need to contact the priest at that particular church to arrange for this to be done. You can find Church in Wales clergy through the following website: www.churchinwales.org.uk or if you live in England then please visit www.achurchnearyou.org.uk.
